Spinner is a crystalline form with a symmetry of six and is designed as a passive kinetic work (i.e. it can be rolled on its axis).
The form is locked together by tension cables acting against a central compression tube, that also supports a hundred ‘fans’ constructed of anodised aluminium.
Spinner is based upon biological structures, in particular scale like protective coverings and carapaces.

What Survives
Who says that all must vanish?
Who knows, perhaps the flight
of the bird you wound remains,
and perhaps flowers survive
caresses in us, in their ground.
It isn’t the gesture that lasts,
but it dresses you again in gold
armor -from breast to knees-
and the battle was so pure
an Angel wears it after you.
Rainer Maria Rilke
